The
City of Soldotna is currently considering annexation of four
areas directly adjacent to the present city boundaries. The
areas are labeled based on the general area in which they are
located. These include Area 1 – Funny River; Area 2 – K-Beach;
Areas 3 – Ridgeway; and Area 4 – Skyview. Despite their names,
these areas do not include the entire geographic regions their
names represent. Please check the maps to the left to view the
proposed boundary changes.
The City Council directed Administration to prepare a draft
annexation petition in January 2007. Once prepared, the Council
must approve the petition for filing with the State Local
Boundary Commission. This is a highly public process with
several opportunities for public hearings and public involvement
before and after a petition is filed. The City Council is
required to hold public hearings on the annexation proposal
before it can file a petition for annexation. Property owners
in the affected areas will be notified via mail when these
public hearings are scheduled. Notice of any meetings regarding
annexation will also be published in our local newspaper, the
Peninsula Clarion.
Information and updates on annexation will be posted on this
website as it becomes available. If you have any further
questions please call our City Clerk at 907-262-9107.
