How do
I register to vote?
Any person
who has lived in the City of Soldotna for 30 days or more may
register to vote in city elections. You may register at the
City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 177 North Birch Street
(262-9107); the Borough Clerk’s office at the Borough
Building, 144 North Binkley Street (714-2160 or
1-800-478-4441); or Department of Motor Vehicles, 43335
K-Beach Road, Suite 10 (262-4681). Regular city elections are
held the first Tuesday in October.
Where
do I obtain a marriage license?
Marriage
licenses can be obtained from the Clerk of Court’s office at
the Courthouse in Kenai (283-3110) located at 125 Trading Bay
Drive, Kenai, AK 99611.
How do I obtain a copy of my birth certificate, death
certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate,
heirloom birth certificate, or heirloom marriage certificate?
Go to the
state website, where you were born or licensed and look for
the Bureau of Vital Statistics. For Alaska, the website is
http://www.hss.state.ak.us/dph/bvs/. If you have
questions, contact the State of Alaska at 907-465-3391.
Each state
website should have complete information on how to obtain each
of these certificates. The Soldotna Public Library (262-4227)
also has a listing of where to send and the cost to obtain a
birth certificate.
Where
can I obtain a passport?
Passport
applications can be obtained at the Kenai Post Office
283-7771, your local post office, or visit the United States
Postal Service website to obtain an application at
http://www.usps.com/passport/.
I’m
starting a business, how do I obtain a State of Alaska
Business License?
Applications are provided by the Kenai Peninsula Borough
located at 144 North Binkley Street, Soldotna, Alaska 99669, or
Soldotna City Hall located at 177 North Birch Street,
Soldotna, Alaska 99669. Or you may apply directly through the
State of Alaska online at
www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/buslic.htm. For

I’m starting a business, where do I find information on
collecting sales tax?
The Kenai
Peninsula Borough is the collecting agency for sales tax.
Their Sales Tax Division can be contacted at 714-2175, or by
mail at 144 North Binkley Street, Soldotna, Alaska 99669.
Where can I go to notarize a document?
The City
of Soldotna can only notarize for City documents. Most banks
will notarize, also try your local title companies and/or a
local post
office.
How do I obtain a burn permit?
If you
reside inside city limits of Soldotna, contact Central
Emergency Services at 262-4792. If you reside outside city
limits, contact the State of Alaska Forestry department at
262-4124.
Where can I obtain a Permanent Fund Application?
You may
obtain the Permanent Fund Application Booklets at Soldotna
City Hall, 177 North Birch Street; the Soldotna Public
Library, 235 North Binkley Street; the Kenai Peninsula
Legislative Information Office, 145 Main Street Loop, Suite
217, Kenai; or you may obtain the application on line at the
State of Alaska
website
www.pfd.state.ak.us. If you have questions,
please call 1-800-733-8813. This telephone number is
available year round in Alaska and available October 8 through
March 31 for those who are
out of state.

questions?
You
would contact the Kenai Peninsula Borough Planning Department
at 714-2200. They are located at 144 North Binkley
Street, Soldotna, AK 99669.
Where can I obtain Internal Revenue Service tax forms?
You may
obtain tax forms from the Soldotna Public Library, 235 North
Binkley Street; the local IRS office, 44539 Sterling Highway
(located inside Blazy Mall); or on the IRS website
http://www.irs.gov/.
If I reside inside City limits, who do I contact with road
maintenance questions?
You can
contact the City's maintenance department at 907-262-4672. If
you reside outside City limits, you would contact the Kenai
Peninsula Borough maintenance department at 907-262-4011.
