INTRODUCTION TO LETTERBOXING
Farrah Collver. Are you looking for an outdoor activity that is fun, artistic and educational? Letterboxing is the answer! Letterboxing combines the excitement of a treasure hunt, the skill of navigation and the creativity of art. Here’s the basic idea: Someone hides a box somewhere containing a logbook and a carved rubber stamp. The hider writes “clues” to the box that can be poetic, cryptic or fairly straightforward. When another letterboxer successfully deciphers the clue and finds the box, they stamp the logbook in the box with their own personal stamp and stamp their personal logbook with the box’s stamp. Letterboxing began in Dartmoor, England when a gentleman left his calling card in a bottle by a remote pool. It has grown in popularity in the United States, with many boxes available from the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage. This class will provide information on getting started and prepare participants to begin their letterboxing experience. Participants will hand carve their own personal stamp and receive their own logbook. In addition, each couple/family/ group will have the opportunity to create their own letterbox—hand carving a stamp and putting together the necessary items in a waterproof box. All materials will be provided and participants will leave the class ready to begin their letterboxing adventures! Check out www.letterboxing.org for more information. Thursday, April 26 / 1 Night / 5:30pm-7:30pm / Ages 8 and up (children should be accompanied by an adult to help with carving) / 5 Minimum and 15 Maximum / Soldotna Public Library / $10 (includes all the materials necessary to begin letterboxing)

LETTING GO OF DETRIMENTAL THINKING
Self Paced Online Class. The human mind is capable of astounding accomplishments. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of us reach our full potential, primarily because the mind is engaged in trivial, demoralizing, ego-centric thinking. Concentration and well being can’t be attained when the mind is preoccupied with living either in the future, or in the past. Fear, guilt, worry, and revenge are born from a distorted perception of reality and result in needless suffering. This class provides tools and insight into how to control and focus your thoughts to identify when you are engaged in non-productive thoughts. In addition, you will learn how to achieve a calm, selfconfident state.
