Park and Recreation Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions

     Soldotna has some of the most spectacular parks in all of the peninsula.  Due to state budget cuts, it is getting harder and harder to maintain them without the help of volunteers.
 
What is Adopt a Park/Corner? 
This is a volunteer program to help maintain and care for the parks/corners located in Soldotna.
 
Who may adopt a park, corner, or volunteer in the gardens?
Anyone who is interested:  businesses, youth groups, families, community groups, friends, and anyone willing to put in a little time and effort.
 
How much time must I commit? 
As much or as little as you like.
 
When does the program start and end?  
The adopt a park/corner and volunteer program runs from May through September of each year.
 
When does planting begin? 
Planting usually starts around the end of May.
 
What is there to do in the campground?  
Litter control, beach clean up, spring cleaning, vandalism control, and general enhancement.
